Anyone on Silo can send a payment request to any username. That makes requests a possible channel for spam, scams, and harassment. Silo gives users two controls over who can request money from them. Neither control touches payments themselves.

Who Can Request Money From You

Every account has a setting that controls who can send it payment requests: Everyone, Contacts only, or Nobody. The default is Everyone. Contacts only limits requests to people in your Contacts list. Nobody turns off incoming requests entirely. The setting lives in the Privacy section of your Account page. Changes take effect immediately and can be reversed at any time.

Blocking a User

When you block a username, that person can no longer send you payment requests. There are two ways to block someone. From a request they sent you. Open the request. Tap the menu (···) in the top corner of the request screen and select Block @username. Confirm, and the request is dismissed. You do not need to leave the request or go to your Account page. From your Account page. Open Blocked users in the Privacy section, enter the username, and tap Block. This is useful when you want to block someone before they send you anything. Both paths add the person to the same Blocked users list. You can unblock anyone from that list at any time.

What Blocking Does and Does Not Do

Blocking only affects payment requests. It does not stop payments in either direction: a blocked user can still pay you, and you can still pay them. It does not remove anyone from your contacts or hide them from search. Blocking is one-directional. If you block someone, they cannot request money from you, but you can still request money from them. The person you block is not notified. A blocked or filtered-out request is never delivered: you receive no screen, no email, and no record of it. These controls apply to requests Silo delivers to a specific username. A request shared manually as a link or QR code (see Payment Requests) is unaffected, because Silo is not delivering it to anyone.
